ACHF Partners with Elevate Ukraine to Send Medical Supplies to UCCC

In December of 2024, ACHF partnered with Elevate Ukraine to send $4,056 worth of oxygenators to the Ukrainian Center for the Ukrainian Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (UCCC). The text below is from Elevate Ukraine’s Facebook post announcing that the donation had been made.

"This holiday season, your generosity has made a life-saving impact! Thanks to your support, we provided a grant to the Ukrainian Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Kyiv, bringing hope to hundreds of children. It was a joint project with Arlene Campbell Humanitarian Foundation, thank you @achfsavinglives for cooperation.

4 pulse oximeters, vital for continuous monitoring in pediatric intensive care, supporting 150+ children annually, were delivered. Same as 2 infusion solution heaters, critical for newborns, protecting them from complications caused by hypothermia.

Dr. Andrii Maxymenko, Chief Medical Doctor at UCCC, shared:

"These are medical devices that will be used for years in our pediatric intensive care unit. Pulse oximeters are essential for monitoring a child's condition when transporting children for routine examinations in the radiology department, in the catheterization laboratory, and to other departments and institutions. Also, they will be used in the cardiology department for continuous monitoring of the condition of patients with heart defects. On average, each device will be used in the treatment of more than 150 children per year.

Systems for heating infusion solutions are necessary for intensive care of our smallest patients —newborns. The temperature regime is very important for them. At the same time, intensive care involves significant infusions of solutions into the vascular bed of children. Low temperature leads to hypothermia of the child and secondary complications. To protect our children from such problems, there is a need for infusion solution heaters. On average, one device will be used in 80 children during the year."

Together, we’re making miracles happen this Christmas. Thank you for believing in our mission."

We are happy to have been a part of this donation to Центр кардіології і кардіохірургії. Thank you to Elevate Ukraine, the United Methodist Committee on relief and our generous donors who made this collaboration possible!
